Len Melka’s career in professional diving began in 1972 when he was employed as a mechanical engineer in the U.S. Navy Supervisor of Diving and Salvage Office. He graduated from the U.S. Naval School, Diving and Salvage for Ship Salvage Operations for Engineering Duty Officers and qualified to 200’ using the Navy’s standard Mark V Diving Helmet. Mr. Melka also graduated from the U. S. Naval School, Underwater Swimmers in Skin and Scuba Diving.

In 1975 Mr. Melka transitioned to commercial diving and marine construction on a full time basis. The photographs in our photo album are samples of the work accomplished by the many outstanding and dedicated employees of Melka Marine, Inc. over the years.
